Daniel Ishaku, an indigene of Taraba State and Corp member serving at the American University of Nigeria in Adamawa state has launched a community-based e-commerce startup in Adamawa state called Toko Marketplace.


Toko Marketplace was launched on the 1 st of June 2022. The platform hosts Grocery products, household products, electronics, phones and accessories, home appliances, etc. TOKO is an online shopping space that allows for shopping and delivery service for a minimal fee. This marketplace also allows vendors to sell their goods on the site. It covers Yola and Girei’s local government areas for a start. However, in due time, it hopes to become a platform used all over Nigeria.


The site also allows customers to search for products and filter by brand, category, and other features, track orders, and discover recommended and related product features. The site is designed to make search easy for her customers. For vendors, setting up a store and uploading products is also an easy go.


The vendor registration involves signing up online at www.toko.com.ng/start-selling. The the vendor signs up with the store name, store address, email, and phone number (incl WhatsApp if available), account details to prove the name and identity of the shop owner. As for customers, creating your account is only a one-step process of entering your name, username, and email address on the website at www.toko.com.ng and then proceeding to order what you needed and it will be delivered to you wherever you are by Toko’s shipping partners.


“The launch of Toko e-commerce is an effort at digitalization of northern Nigeria’s population, Nigeria, and also the African economy,” said the founder.
